Ascanio Sobrero, graduated in Medicine in 1832, devoted himself along all his life to Chemistry and carried out important investigations in this field. His name belongs to the history of Chemistry and Medicine for the discovery of the synthesis of nitroglycerine, not only the powerful explosive used by Alfred Nobel for preparing dynamite but also the primary drug for the treatment of angina pectoris. Many associate nitroglycerine to dynamite and to Nobel forgetting Sobrero, the Italian physician who discovered it in 1847.
